Cruella the high fashion villian priestess
Stone knew she had to do something very different. The Oscar-winning actor has built up an impressive career since starring in Seth Rogen’s buddy comedy Superbad in 2007.
Stone is a perfect fit for the part, with her Disneyland-English accent, ironic grin and wide, roguish eyes.
The movie, set in the London’s 70s, Cruella and the Baroness showdown in a story framed within the fashion industry.
Before Cruella there was Estella, a naughty girl thats rebellious against authority. Kicked out of school, her mum Catherine decides to move them to London.
Obviously, life doesn’t go as planned and (not to give to much away) Estella ends up alone on the streets, where she meets Jasper and Horace. By the time the 3 are young adults, the triad have become devious scammers and thieves, pinching wallets and other valuable items from their past owners.
But the thing is, Estella is very creative and has an ambition to be a fabulous fashion designer like her idol, the Baroness, a fashion superstar who is incredibly chic and frighteningly haute.
Estella’s flair for fashion soon catches the eye of the Baroness and gives her a shot at high fashion design. Cruella is born, and pretty soon a full on design war of presentation art and fashion stunts erupts between her and the Baroness.
The movie is a cheeky, showy story with real meaning and a lot of attitude. I’m giving it a 2 thumbs up and 4 stars. If you haven’t seen it yet and your a fan of villians I recommend it. If you Have seen it, comment below and let us know what you thought of Cruella.
